What Is a Jury Card?

A complete explanation of what a Eurovision Jury Card is, how it works, and how it is used in the 2026 voting system.

1. Definition of a Jury Card

A Jury Card is the official visual panel used during the Eurovision Song Contest to display the points awarded by a country’s professional jury. It appears on screen when the spokesperson of each country announces their jury results.

The Jury Card is one of the most iconic elements of the Eurovision voting sequence, as it reveals the famous 12 points that often shape the early scoreboard.

2. What Information Appears on a Jury Card?

A Jury Card typically includes:

• The name of the voting country
• The country’s flag
• The list of the top 10 countries receiving points
• The points awarded (1–8, 10 and 12)
• Highlighted emphasis on the 12 points
• The spokesperson’s video window (in the live broadcast)

In fan-made recreations, the spokesperson window is usually omitted, focusing instead on the clean scoreboard layout.

3. How Jury Cards Are Used in the Broadcast

During the Grand Final, each country connects live with the hosts. The spokesperson greets the audience and announces the 12 points awarded by their jury.

The Jury Card appears on screen to show:

• The full distribution of jury points
• The ranking of the top 10 songs
• The highlighted 12 points

After all Jury Cards have been shown, the televote is revealed in a separate block.

4. How Jury Cards Work Under the 2026 Rules

With the updated 2026 system, the Jury Card still displays the traditional 1–8, 10 and 12 points, but the jury itself has changed:

• Each jury now has 7 members
• At least 2 must be aged 16–25
• Jury voting returns to the semi‑finals (50% of the result)

The Jury Card remains unchanged visually, but the underlying ranking is now influenced by a more diverse and generationally balanced jury.

5. Jury Cards vs. Televote Cards

Jury Cards and Televote Cards serve different purposes:

Jury Cards show the points awarded by the professional jury
Televote Cards show the aggregated public vote

Since 2016, the televote is revealed in a single block, so Televote Cards often display large totals (250–350 points, sometimes 400+).

Jury Cards, however, always show the classic 1–12 structure.
