1. Who Needs to Qualify?

Most participating countries must compete in one of the two Eurovision semi‑finals.
Only 10 countries from each semi‑final qualify for the Grand Final.

The only countries that do not need to qualify are:
• The Big 5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom)
• The Host Country

These countries automatically advance due to their financial and organizational contributions.

2. How the Semi‑Finals Work

Each semi‑final features a mix of countries determined by the Allocation Draw,
which distributes nations into pots based on historical voting patterns.

The running order is then created by the producers to ensure a balanced and entertaining show.

Since 2026, the semi‑finals use a 50% jury + 50% televote system again.

3. How the Results Are Determined (2026 System)

The semi‑final results are based on:
• 50% Jury Vote – from a 7‑member professional jury
• 50% Televote – from the public

Both rankings are combined to create the final semi‑final ranking.
The top 10 countries qualify for the Grand Final.

4. How the Qualifiers Are Revealed

Since 2026, Eurovision uses a new reveal format designed for maximum suspense:

• The hosts reveal 3 countries at a time
• From those 3, only 1 qualifies
• This continues until 9 qualifiers have been announced
• The 10th qualifier is chosen from all remaining countries

Importantly:
• The order is completely random
• It does NOT reflect the actual ranking
• The 10th reveal is often the most dramatic moment of the semi‑final

5. Why Only 10 Countries Qualify?

The limit of 10 qualifiers per semi‑final ensures:
• A balanced Grand Final lineup
• A competitive semi‑final stage
• A manageable show length

With around 37–40 participating countries each year, the semi‑finals are essential to determine which entries reach the final stage.
