Davit Lomidze
Sun on the Rooftops
Biography
Davit Lomidze is a young, charismatic child performer from Georgia, born in the iconic city of Gori in 2016. At the age of 10, Lomidze has established himself as a rising talent from his country's rich musical landscape after being formally selected to represent Georgian Public Broadcasting (GPB) at the 24th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, held in Ta' Qali, Malta. From an early age, he demonstrated a deep passion for singing and the performing arts, prompting him to embark on a three-year artistic training program specializing in vocal technique and stage movement, while actively participating in various local festivals and concerts in his home region.
A definitive turning point in his meteoric career came in mid-2026, when he competed in the ninth season of Ranina—the renowned and demanding children's talent show used by state television as the national selection process for Eurovision. Throughout the six stages of the televised competition, Davit unanimously captivated both the audience and the panel of experts with his outstanding performance skills, vocal maturity, charisma, and natural stage presence. On June 6, 2026, after performing an acclaimed version of the soundtrack from the film Good People—composed by Revaz Lagidze—in the grand final, he was awarded the highest score by the jury (comprising Nato Metonidze, Davit Tsintsadze, and Sopho Khalvashi, Georgia's 2007 Eurovision representative), crowning him the overall winner ahead of the other two finalists.
The song with which Davit Lomidze aims to conquer the international stage is titled "Sun on the Rooftops"; it was officially unveiled on September 16, 2026, alongside its accompanying music video. The project boasts top-tier creative credentials within the Eurovision sphere, having been composed by Giga Kukhianidze—the renowned producer behind Georgia's four historic victories in the children's contest—with lyrics by Irina Sanikidze. The song is a vibrant contemporary pop-disco track performed almost entirely in Georgian, yet it innovatively incorporates various Italian phrases into its lyrics.
Outside his professional life, Davit describes himself as an incredibly cheerful, mischievous, and affectionate boy who is very close to his family. The young artist balances his musical training with his compulsory primary education and is a passionate sports enthusiast, actively playing both football and rugby. Musically, he demonstrates a deep appreciation for his country's traditions, citing classic Georgian composers Gogi Tsabadze and Giya Kancheli among his greatest historical influences. With "Sun on the Rooftops," Lomidze takes on the responsibility of upholding the legacy of the most successful country in the history of Junior Eurovision.
