Biography

Matteo Trullu is a 13-year-old singer from the municipality of Decimomannu on the island of Sardinia, Italy. His passion for the arts began in early childhood within his family circle, where he demonstrated a natural ear for music that led him to pursue singing and vocal technique lessons in his community. His vocal quality and stage presence quickly stood out at regional festivals and local talent contests.

He made a spectacular leap onto the national stage by participating in the hit TV show The Voice Kids Italy. Throughout the competition, Matteo won over both the judges and the audience with his mature delivery, powerful vocal timbre, and charismatic style. After winning the season, he received widespread public and official recognition; local authorities awarded him a certificate of honor and financial support to help further his artistic studies.

Away from the television spotlight, Matteo strives to maintain the routine of a typical student his age. He balances schoolwork with piano and music theory practice—using the piano as a foundation for improvising his own compositions. He is passionate about classical music and modern Italian pop, and he enjoys spending his free time outdoors in Sardinia—cycling with friends, playing soccer, and sharing moments with his family.

Professionally, the Italian public broadcaster (RAI) officially confirmed his internal selection to represent Italy at the 24th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2026, to be held on October 24 at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali, Malta. He thus became the twelfth representative for the Italian delegation in the history of the children's contest.

For this European event, Matteo is presenting the song "Che cos'è l'amore?" (¿Qué es el amor?) is an emotive pop-style track in Italian. The song explores innocence and the discovery of true feelings through the eyes of the new generation, serving as a showcase to display the artist's full interpretive range on the international stage.

Lyrics

Lo so già come ti guarderò
Quando tutto sarà grigio e non
Capirai qual è direzione mentre il cielo cade
E mi verrai a cercare altrove
Tra le strade e le tue storie
Fino a perdere la voce
Finché non sorgerà il sole oh

Anche la verità sembra solo una scusa
E mi chiedo sempre

Che cos'è l'amore?
Un "ciao" detto in un film in bianco e nero
Cantare fino a perdere la voce
Colori quando arriva primavera
Oh che cos'è l'amore?
Amore, amore, amore…
I don't know what love is

Amore, amore, amore…
I don't know what love is

Amore, amore, amore…
I don't know what love is
Amore, amore, amore…
Che cos'è l'amore?

Parlerò con te, tra le nuvole
E ti chiederò che coѕ'è l'аmore
